Mahwah, NJ, October 8, 2026: Ikegami announces a major expansion to its range of broadcast-quality live production cameras. Scheduled for introduction on Ikegami booth 708 at NAB New York, October 21-22, the new UHK-X700VN offers advanced creative features usually associated with digital cinematography. These include Bokeh effects, seamless depth of field adjustability and seamless exposure adjustment.

A central feature of the new camera is an advanced variable neutral-density filter which gives operators the freedom to precisely control exposure, regardless of changes in the amount of incoming light, while maintaining their existing iris setting and depth of field. This opens a wide range of creative possibilities, including naturally blurring the background to emphasize the subject. Precise control of background focus also allows interference patterns to be reduced or eliminated when using LED walls in news presentation or virtual production studios.

The UHK-X700VN incorporates a proprietary Ikegami filter structure which allows seamless and stepless variable neutral-density control, starting from a zero-attenuation state. This minimizes the exposure shift and changes in image characteristics that can occur when variable neutral-density control is initially engaged. Exposure can thus be adjusted even during live production, maintaining the desired iris setting and depth of field as well as providing greater creative freedom.

Integral to the UHK-X700VN are new control modes based on the variable neutral-density filter. Among these is a mode allowing the operator to define the variable range of the lens iris. This is particularly effective when maintaining optimal optical lens performance as a priority, or when a specific depth of field is desired.

In addition, an automated mode delivers continuous exposure control across an exceptionally wide range by enabling simultaneous control of the variable neutral-density filter, lens iris and electronic gain. The camera system optimizes exposure while maintaining the operator's desired visual characteristics.

The UHK-X700VN inherits the robust build quality and advanced design of the industry-proven UHK-X700, including 2/3-inch CMOS 4K sensors with global shutter readout to eliminate rolling shutter distortion and flash-banding artifacts. HDR imagery with HLG is supported as well as BT.2020 and BT.709 chroma spaces. 4K video is available as a 12G-SDI feed directly from the camera head, allowing the UHK-X700VN to be integrated into a wireless system. High frame-rate shooting at up to 2x speed in 4K or up to 8x speed in HD via the base station is possible as an option for applications such as capturing fast motion in sport or stage events. Simultaneous 4K and HD video formats, including mixed sources, can be output via the Ikegami BSX-100 base station.

Also on demonstration at NAB New York 2026:

• Ikegami IPX-100 IP compact IP base station
The IPX-100 IP compact IP base station allows broadcast content creators to adopt SMPTE ST 2110 IP remote and studio operation while supporting the familiar workflow of baseband live production. Each UNICAM XE or UNICAM HD camera can feed into an IPX-100 via up to 2 miles of conventional SMPTE-hybrid fiber cable. The camera head is powered by the IPX-100 so there is no operational difference compared with using a conventional fiber-cabled camera.

• Ikegami OCP-500 operation control panel
The OCP-500 is a slimline panel which takes up minimal desk space while still offering complete remote control of all camera functions, including full setup adjustment via an LCD touchscreen and associated rotary encoders. Ethernet interface, including power, is featured. Direct connection via RS-422 control cable is also available.

• Ikegami UHL-X40 2-piece box camera
The UHL-X40 is a two-piece system allowing a distance up to six miles between head and CCU using just a duplex fiber cable which includes an Ethernet trunk channel for applications such as PTZ control data. The head weighs just 2.4 lbs. The CCU provides simultaneous 2160p UHD output, HD clean output, and HD monitoring output which can include focus assist and other viewfinder-style indicators and markers for the remote operator.

• Ikegami HLM-2460WA monitor
Building on the features and performance of its HLM-2460W predecessor, the Ikegami HLM-2460WA 24-inch video monitor reproduces more accurate dynamics of the source images thanks to a 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS LCD panel with 1,800:1 contrast ratio and 400 nits peak brightness. It is designed for use in broadcast environments such as edit suites where a computer-friendly WUXGA display resolution is preferred, and for integration into monitor walls.

• Ikegami HLM-1860WR monitor
The HLM-1860WR is an AC or battery powered 1920 x 1080 pixel HD multiformat monitor with a larger 18.5-inch IPS LCD panel than its HLM-1760WR predecessor, within the same 19-inch rack-width 7U high housing. The display has a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits peak brightness, allowing it to reproduce clear images even in outdoor environments.
